User Competency & Qualification
The practice of medicine does not fundamentally
change as a result of technology adoption.
Physicians and other clinical support staff still need
to meet the needs of their patients and apply their
specialized knowledge, experience and skills as before.
However, clinical software and related technology can
make a dramatic improvement in clinical efficiency and
provide the clinical decision support that allows all
clinical staff to make more informed decisions. In order
to take maximum advantage of the capability of clinical
software, as envisioned under Meaningful Use (and other
clinical quality programs), all clinical users need to
have the right skills and training to perform their jobs
in this IT-essential environment. This means that
clinical users must understand all aspects of clinical
software in their enterprise and how it impacts their
job, their workflow, their approval processes and more.
Ultimately this becomes Meaningful Use.
There are many third-party training programs and
certifications that help healthcare professionals to do
their jobs more effectively. Most of these programs are
generalized in terms of curriculum. Examples of these
include AHIMA (RHIT, RHIS certification), HIMSS (CPHIMS)
and CHIME (CHCIO). These are all great certification
programs that contribute to the improved operations in
healthcare organizations. However, when it comes to
providing a standardized, organizationally-relevant
training program that addresses the overall clinical
organizational capacity, processes and tools to complete
an individual’s job in this new environment, there is a
clear void. Ideal Health IT understands this and has
created an exciting, industry-leading program to address
this need.
Ideal Health IT’s User Competency & Qualification (UCQ)
program is a comprehensive training and assessment
solution that addresses all facets of an individual’s
competency and the qualifications necessary to perform
his or her job. This integrated, certificate-level
offering is based on a common framework that’s directly
relevant to all healthcare provider organizations but is
customized to your organization’s unique needs,
recognizing your specific technology selections,
configuration and integration. Upon completion of the
UCQ program, healthcare provider organizations will have
the assurance that all existing and future clinical
staff will have a common basis and understanding of
their specific clinical operating environment and a
proven ability to perform their new IT-enabled roles.
Ideal Health IT works with UCQ clients to define the
specific requirements, processes and governance and
build a complete training program based on specific user
roles. We address every transformational and operational
role in the clinical environment and build the training
program based on a clear understanding of the essential
knowledge and skills required for each of these roles.
The UCQ training addresses all inter-related software in
your environment as well as your integrated clinical
processes of the individual roles to assure
organizational competency and effectiveness.
