EXECUTIVE & CLINICAL ENGAGEMENT

Many clinicians view the implementation of EMR systems as an IT program and not a valuable tool to aid in the delivery of patient care. Engagement with clinicians is often late and minimal meaning that decisions are made without relevant and expert knowledge.  It is not surprising therefore that many clinicians reject new systems instead of seeing the benefits.

Senior executives and other board members are often disengaged with IT programs.  This means that sponsorship is lacking or half-hearted with the board only seeing the program as a cost and a burden on resources.

Ideal Health IT offers an executive and clinical engagement service to address these issues at the early stages of the program so that the all stakeholders have a positive and informed view of the Clinical Information System implementation. An expert from Ideal Health IT will work closely with the Project Sponsor and Program Manager to identify the key stakeholders and their areas of responsibility within the organization. Based on our experience we work with you to build the model for executive and clinical engagement.

We engage with the board of directors as appropriate as well as executives and clinical directors to present an overview of the program and the opportunities for them to be involved in the decision making process.  We outline the possible benefits of the implementation and how the engagement helps to achieve benefits.

Ideal will take responsibility for running engagement workshops and other events covering:

  • Overview of program
  • Benefits of being engaged
  • Specific drivers for their area
  • The impact of other initiatives
  • Their vision and priorities
  • Governance and accountability arrangements
  • Funding
  • Sponsorship and leadership

Ideal Health IT will produce a detailed approach and delivery model for ongoing engagement and communication with senior stakeholders. By adopting this approach, the client will gain the buy-in of executives and senior clinicians.  This will facilitate sponsorship, decision making and promote the benefits of the program.  The functionality of the system and associated processes will be much more closely aligned with the strategic and operational requirements of the healthcare provider.
As a result of this early executive and clinical engagement, you will also have a clear strategy for ongoing engagement with all stakeholders. An optional review can be held prior to each major milestone.
