Change Management
One of the most crucial, but typically
under-considered and under-funded parts of a health IT
implementation project is change management. Clinical
systems implementations touch every part of the
organization. Physicians are dramatically affected, as
are the entire clinical staff. Additionally, operations
personnel are affected as are finance, scheduling and of
course technical support groups.
New clinical systems not only drive the need for
extensive training, but often the roles of staff are
affected significantly. People not only perform jobs
differently, but often, they end up in different jobs
with different classifications. Clinical Informaticists
are now moving into the mainstream. Chief Medical
Information Officers are gaining in popularity,
particularly in larger organizations. Accordingly,
effectively planning for change, managing the process,
and reinforcing new roles and responsibilities is
imperative for project success. Executive championing
and involvement is crucial to reinforce the need for
change as well as champion the change when the expected
resistance surfaces.
Ideal Health IT has consultants with significant
experience in change management. Effective change
management cuts across every consulting service we have
and as such is a defined practice area for us. We
have a defined methodology that has been proven
successful in multiple enterprise health IT system
implementation projects. We work with healthcare
organizations to leverage our expertise and experience.
As part of our change management offering we engage the
key stakeholders across the organization and work with
them to prepare the organization for change. We
understand the changes typically required and the
impacts of these changes on the healthcare organization
based on our previous engagements. We apply our
knowledge to the best fit for your organization.
We do not force our change model on you. Rather we
apply our knowledge and map it to your needs,
expectations and appetite for change as part of the
overall clinical program.
